I took my trusty 533i off the road a little less than 3 years ago due to rust at the read subframe mounting points. I've intended to part it out twice, only to have other things get in the way. So, one last attempt to move it complete before the weather gets cold. If there's no interest, I'll part it (assuming I can find the time).

Car has 230k+ miles on it. Interior is good except for the driver's seat and dash cracks. Exterior has a few rusty spots and a rather dull repaint (my handiwork). Most everything worked when I took it off the road - I think the OBC was getting flaky, but all the major systems were functional. Starter was a bit wonky sometimes. Heater core had enough of a seepage issue to small the coolant, but not enough to affect the level.

The plus side is that the car was religiously maintained throughout my 9-year ownership. I have all the documentation. Front control arms were done soon before I parked it, as well as the exhaust. Strut housings were replaced after the old ones got too rusty. Lots of other stuff that I can't remember right now.

There are a few nice add-ons as well. Nice E34 rims with good Bridgestone RE950s, a 3.73LSD, Hella Euro headlights, and M-Sport steering wheel.

I'd say if you threw a battery in it, it would probably start and drive well enough to get it somewhere nearby, but I can't guarantee that after three years of inactivity.

IAnyway, if anyone is interested, drop me a note here or PM me. I'd be happy to get $1000 for the car, but I'd also be happy to see it go to someone who can use it more than I can, so price is negotiable. The car needs to leave before winter sets in - make me an offer.

Note that these are pics taken about three years ago when the car was coming off the road. It has been sitting ever since, so it is dirtier and shows signs of mice settling in, but they don't appear to have done any damage beyond making a mess under the hood and in the glove box, but that's what Shop-Vacs and Simple Green are for.

are you parting it out. if so how much for the tranny?

I will part it if nobody takes it whole. I'd REALLY rather it went out all at one, but I'm not going to junk it without removing some bits first. Pulling the tranny, however, may be a bit beyond my time available to get it apart. If something changes I'll let you know.

How much for that diff?

I need to do a little research on prices before I set any - I've been out of the E28 world for a while. I'm not looking to make a killing, just get fair market value. Shipping would be considerable, given the weight.

I'll give you 50 bucks for the steering wheel...
