Keep the Stock box for now and change the filter to ITG or BMC. Try not to use K&N.

Ahmed303, will the Dinan cold air intake for the 740 work with the M62 layout in the 840?
Perhaps the Dinan performance ROM update for the 97 840ci would be somewhat compatible with this?

(sorry can't paste full url's yet)
It was just a thought spurred by this topic.

It is not needed for the 840. It might actually reduce the HP. The 840 has a nice dual intake RAM AIR system. Each intake is located under the Headlight pods with the openings next to the Parking light strips and they connect to a T before the Air-Box. So just get the best flowing Air Filter you can afford and get the ROM Programming (Wokke or Dinan).

I gotta say, after removing the dual intake system on my 840 today, I am very impressed with how damn big they are! They are huge!
I will try to take a pic tomorrow afternoon.
Here's a pic from today... Nose is being repainted. Notice the horns are still there, too. I think I'm gonna move them while the nose if off due to easy access :D

I don't have an exact diagram but here is my simple diagram (Thanks for the pic Koizumi)
This is the route in blue. 2 intake areas in bold blue and the tubing in less bold blue.

Here are the intake ports from the outside.

Here is my old 1997 Dinan 840Ci (I still miss that car sometimes even with the 860 I have now. I was able to drive it everyday with the DC area traffic and my first 8. I drove the car off the dealer lot with only 38 miles on the clock).

Is it truly a dual intake system on the 840's? On my car, the one on the left side (passenger side) connects to the air filter intake box and does seem to be a ram air or forced air system--the faster you drive, the more air goes through.
The one on the right however does not seem to be connected to anything useful. There is tubing, but it doesn't really go anywhere--just sort of down below the radiator. The 850's from what I understand have 2 air intake filter boxes, so I always assumed that everything related to air flow on my 840 on the right side was just there in case they were making an 850 vice an 840.
Am I missing some components? I certainly do not have "T" connector before my air filter box.

Hmmm!!! May be a M62 option? Not available or needed for the pre 96 840s? I am not sure now as Koizumi has the pre 96 840 with the Dual intake
