Ok, i want to paint my black moldings to go with my red paint. I don't like the contrast against my paint.

I have a couple of questions of how i should go about painting my moldings.

1. Should i sand the moldings before paint. (should I just use 2000 grit or should i start from low to high?)

2. Is there anything else i need to do before painting. Plastic Primer?

3. Should I have the Stealership paint the moldings with the OEM paint. Or is there a website or something that i can get access to OEM paint.

4. And if i can do this should i paint the moldings myself?

Thanks for any response:

I have been dealing with this myself -- I am going to install an M5 bumper cover on the front and don't want black moldings.
I have been told that the factory black inserts can not be sanded to remove the texture. If they are sanded the surface will get too thin and won't take paint properly.
One shop I spoke with said they could apply several coats of primer and make them look smooth others have said to just paint them and live with the texture.
As far as painting them yourself I would suggest using a professional -- they have the proper equipment and will use the right paint to get a decent color match. The plastic body parts do not take paint the way metal does so it is difficult to get a great match.
As far as OEM paint is concerned I would use whatever the body shop recomends -- they have the experience to work with it and get good results.
Good luck,
