the paint looks slightly flat. maybe reduce the opacity of the paint layer a little bit. will help the reflections to show through a bit more and give it a bit more depth.

and im going to assume you used the magnetic lassoo tool to cut it out due to the mess around the headlight. so i'll say this. magnetic lassoo is shithouse. use the polygon lassoo. 50 times more accurate

good call on the lasso......it was the first time ive used the program and i still havent figured it out....is there a way to change just specific colors in the menus as a whole instead of painting over them?

actually if you look at it the problem is that the paint has an almost metallic look to it. too much color (turn saturation down) and in the case with bright colors like yellow, you have to much contrast.

Very nice. Play with the opacity a little bit, and use the shadows and highlights as well. Make colors a little lighter than you think that they should be, then you have room to play with the color. Good Luck!

that wasn't a bad effort for only a second chop. just keep practicing. you'll get the hang of it. and remember, its all in the layers.

look at some online car chopping tutorials. they are so helpful its not funny. www.digimods.com is where i learned everything i know. and from what i learned there i was able to adapt to other things. its just a lot of playing around before you get the hang of it.
i was able to do this after 3 weeks of getting the program and having never used it before. this was about my 8th chop

im assuming you know what the concept CS looks like. but yeah. just keep mucking around with it

how did you do the rims?

Majikal

ur turning the saturation WAY to high up... keep in near the middle when you change colors, that will keep it from looking so metallic/chrome. Also, Black is a very difficult color to change without getting too much reflection. Ive been working with PS for a long time and this is the best color change I could do on that black car to get it to a bright blue.

But yeah, here is some good tutorials for car modding in PS

thats quite a decent effort. a few criticisms thouh if i may.

scoop removal is very shoddy. the shadow on the bonnet just stops very suddenly. not to mention the grass. also missing the second washer jet.

when cutting the car out for lowering. you should have de-selected the area inside the wing. but good stuff

bmwtuner325is
10-05-2007, 03:40 AM
yeah i noticed the nozzle when i posted it lol....the scoop removal was kinda an after thought and with that particular color it doesnt look very nice

the area inside the wing was deselected but i had to recreate most of it for the line to be straight....any other thoughts...all this is helping me get better

thanks alot

i spent most of the time trying to fix the backround where the road is.....from another persons view did that turn out ok? when its magnified im not perfectly happy with it but as a full picture it looks ok i guess

scoop removal is much better but still a bit sketchy on the grass. nozzle is still missin but that can be easily cloned on.

road doesn't look too bad. a bit iffy. still a tad blurry and could be straighter. again, clone stamp is your friend.

the drop has been done very well.

another thing i just noticed though. when you did the wheels, you also did the brakes. now the discs and calipers look too dark. other than that, not a bad effort. how have you been painting wheels? im gonna assume you're using the paint brush tool.

instead, try selecting the rims and copying and pasting them into a new layer. they should paste directly into the same position. then with that layer you can play with the hue/saturation thing like you did with the paint. or you can go menu > adjustments > variations. a box will pop up and you can add different colours and make it lighter or darker. play around with that. its also a good way to paint cars too

yeah thats what i did with the wheels i just didnt do the brakes too.....the brakes and wheels were one layer and i played with the hue sat etc.....clone stamp eh? havent tried that one i did it with the paintbrush and the patch tool :dunno
