I'm finally back from Vacationing in Mexico (I may post some pics @ "Off Topic" when my friends and I stopped off @ S. Padre Island to engage in Spring Break Activities. [Girls Gone Wild with Snoop Doggy Dogg were there and broadcasted live on pay per view:D ])
Anyway, back to the office as usual, 5 'o clock whistle blows (in investment bank terms that means 6:30 [early]) and I'm off. Heading back to my home away from the city, where you can still hear the cow go moo, and hopefully still get a par 5...Spring, Texas.
Driving on FM1960 to make a right on Kuykendahl. That's when I saw it. I thought it was just a run-of-the-mill Lancer with paper tags, until I got right behind it. Yeah doggie...it read on the bottom left hand corner of the trunk "Evolution VIII". And I said outloud to myself "V eye eye eye." Whoa! Sweet! Only saw one of 'dem at the car show.
It looked like an autobot from the transformer cartoons, with its big oversized spoiler in the back and it's hard angles. It was heavy traffic as everyone was parked @ the light. As both of us were in the middle lane of a 3 lane road, I saw an opportunity and made my way to the outside lane and passed up the VIII slowly to get a closer look. Tires were bigger than the non evo Lancer. Maybe 17s, and they were dark gray in the style of the SSR comps.
Since I had to make a right turn, I thought I'd bypass all the BS traffic and cut through the grocery store's parking lot that cornered the intersection. Evo man and several other cars did the same.
This is it....anticipation is rising. This is my shot to run against a rally car, since I've never got to go at it with a WRX. We all get onto our street, Kuykendahl which is a straight shot into Spring, TX. We both were doing all the posturing, quick superfluous revs at each gear shift showing off the exhaust notes, and I, making sure he sees the ///M badge. He was right behind me. I knew he was just waiting to attack once the rush hour traffic let up.
I was waiting as well, thinking about the outcome, heart beating a little faster, waiting for him to draw his pistol like a shoot out at the O' Tay Corral.
I look in the rearview and he's just hanging back there. "Come on pilgrim...draw...draw." He changes lanes aggressively and is now @ my rear left. I was in 2nd gear @ 3500 rpms waiting for him to do something...anything.
He takes a left friggin' turn on the next street and that was the end of that.
Phuck!
