I've been thinking a lot lately, I love my car, but it is stopping me from doing a lot of the things I want to do, such as move to europe for a year, travel, not have to worry about insurance and storing it somewhere safe. I've put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this car and I really hate to see it go, but at this time I think it's best it goes to an enthusiast like myself.

Car just hit 75,000
so I'm going to take into account the radiator, water pump, t-stat/housing, belts and hoses should be changed $367 in parts, easy enough to do yourself.
$21,500

Gruppe N race coilovers 550/600 TMS Camber plates -3.5 camber $3300
Sparco Speed race seats (2) Double locking sliders $1200
Custom straight pipes $150
ECIS intake $210
ZKW + prolumen HIDs with stoneguard 6000k $700
ZKW fogs +prolumen HIDs with stoneguard 6000k $300
LTWs 8.5 all around with conti sport 2s only 2 track days on these $1200 + 850 for tires
LTW Hamann spoiler $580
OEM xbrace $120
OEM Clears $250
H&R 12mm spacers $120
30% front tint 5% rear tint $200
Clutch holds strong

Over $9000 in just modifications

Spare parts in the garage include:
Brand new guibo
Rogue tranny mounts
Stock airbox
Mint condition powered/heated vaders
alarm with FOB just need harness to install
New brembo drilled rotors f/r and hawk front pads.
Stock crossmember that the xbrace replaces.
Vanos solenoid with 58k miles I believe, I took this one out because people say they go bad around 60k miles, I couldn't tell a difference with the new one in.

3/99 build harmon kardon sound system, cold weather package, sunroof, cruise control, every option

Car was involved in an accident where the rear quarter panel was hit, it was fixed and haven't had a problem since

More pics on request, I really hate to see her go, but storing the car for more than a year just doesn't make sense :(

hey thanks, I think it's a good deal at this price, and for no reason would I go any lower, I have no problem sticking it in storage for a year, and paying $15/month

I can buy an E46 M3 for a grand more than that. You need to realize your money loss with the mods, or part the mods out and sell those individually. You hang on to it for another year, and the price will go down even more. You will only be able to sell it for 21k when it becomes a rare antique.

plus the fact its obviously tracked. and if i'm buying a 8 year old M with 75k on the clock for $21,500, it better at LEAST be able to pass emissions.:rolleyes

If and only if, you find the right buyer who wants everything you have done to the car, then it would be worth it (I'm looking for that situation myself). Otherwise, what others have stated is a reality. It was tracked, in an accident, and then modified (people know this can be a headache if not done correctly). Anyhow been there done that myself, and only got 20% of my mods back in $$$ when I sold my 930 Turbo...to the right buyer. Now it's my turn to get a great deal!

Better get use to it then. $21,500....C5 Z06/E46 m3 money for a couple dimes more.

Yeah I do agree with others. 21,500 is def. getting a bit too high. My 99 M3 is being sold for 20,900 and it's pretty much the same thing as your car mod wize maybe a 2000-3000 more in mods but it only has 50k miles. It also has been in an accident, I was the 2nd owner and I tracked it and drove it hard.

The asking price for my car is hight too but I'm not in controle of that.

I would say something reasonable for your car would be around 17,xxx. Like people are saying 3-5 more grand and an e46 M is in range.

If I were you I would just hang on to it. Why not if you can store it for only 15$ a month, thats pretty cheap. Turn it into a track car or something or just get your use out of it.

well the climate control is fixed
I have new brakes sitting in my garage rotors and pads, but I still have some life out of these.

Car has been very reliable, always starts up, always runs well, a few little problems here and there, swaybar endlink, abs/asc, but that has all been fixed.

It'll pass emissions too, ecis=carb legal, and if youre really paranoid you can put the stock airbox back on, which I have and that will be included in the sale as well as a stock exhaust.

As far as tracking it, I did 2 DEs 2 auto_x hardly put any strain on the car, Plus I did all of the preventive maintenance, except the oil nut lock , on my list of things to do.

I think I set my price a little high, because I dont really want to get rid of it, but this is the price I'd be willing to say goodbye.

G/l with the sale, for a 99 M3 with fairly low miles I don't think its priced all that high.

I really hope people are willing to pay this much in the CA market. No way this car would get more than 15-16 in the Midwest.

Good luck with the sale.

10-10-2007, 08:05 PM
thanks guys I'm going to continue to modify it as well, this is a never ending process and I will not skimp on maintenance just because its for sale.

This weekend all the new cooling items will be put in, as well as fan delete with a lower temp t-stat.

Like I said price will remain the same no matter what I put into it.

Great looking M! I'm not going to comment on the price due to the fact that value is in the eye of the beholder! Hell, I feel that my car is worth $30k, although I know I won't receive that money for the project even though parts have added up to well over $10k. Good luck on the sale, if your in a rush to sell, you know what your going to have to do!!

M13
10-24-2007, 12:56 AM
Agreed, sit tight on your price and if it sells, it sells, if not keep it.

If you really are looking to sell later on and want top dollar, it's better to part and sell as stock.

Good luck!

in ca it can be worth that much. i paid 22100 for mine from a dealer.
2 years ago and with 60k miles.

100 percent stock and all i needed to do was comlpete an insp. II and the easy bushings. (which is all super cheap for me.)

the car was the best condition m i found in 6 months. m3's arent cheap around here and i got tired of looking so i bought mine. it was alot but whatever. its nicer than any e36 m3 around. MUCH cleaner than the one being sold even , (which is CLEAN)

+1.

Why is everyone making a big deal that it's been tracked twice? This is why most of America sees BMW's as prissy parking lot queens. I'm willing to bet most tracked cars with responsible owners who don't skimp on maintenance are in better condition than the majority of M3's out there. Weak parts and skimping on maintenance are horrible ideas for someone wanting to do an HPDE...it would benefit US to make sure the car is running very well and everything is in strong condition before we head out...or we could be out $150-300 for registration fee only. I find the majority of owners who do track days also inspect their cars much more frequently than the majority, either done personally or by a race shop. It's just like how a higher mileage car that has been maintained well and often will be in better shape than a lower mileage car that has only done the bare minimum in terms of maintenance. These cars were made to be driven, they can handle it.

STFU Newbie. You have the cash buy it, no one here needs any free advice, this is a for sale thread.

To the OP, you many want to start a new for sale thread and get the mods to delete this one. People here just don't understand, or have complete disregard for ethics on a for sale thread.

You newbies' think this is too much money, go buy something you can better afford, no one here needs you free advice on what this car is worth, read the forum rules on a for sale thread.

That said, I'll be contacting you for possibly my fourth 'M' ;)

well my honest opinion is that car is great. however to to the OP try to sell the mods. you can sell each mod as people buy it and subtract it off the price. That way your lowering the price but not really taking a hit. 21,500 would be good if it had not been in that quarter panel accident.
