the 540 isnt made anymore for the new body style, they made a 545i 6sp but that quickly changed to 550i 6 sp.
its a 4.5l V8.
google it, or there may be some on here.

What recent maintenance has the car had? Everything from clutch to suspension to cooling system to catalytic converters to bushings, etc.
Is there any rust?
Why are you selling?
Finally, are you somewhat negotiable?
