On more than one occassion, usually when the car sits overnight, I get a message about "excessive drain on battery". We've brought the vehicle in 2x for diagnostics - the first time, it was documented that I had an "unfavorable driving pattern" which, when you did the math, implied that starting/stopping the vehicle 3x day was "unfavorable". The second time, it was documented that "customer is not driving car often enough to charge battery properly". I leased the vehicle in March and have 10,000+ miles on it as of end of September. I commute 25 miles to/from work M-F and drive the SUV on the weekend. We are flabergasted by these responses from BMW - anyone out there having similiar issues with a draw on the battery that could enlighten our service department?

bring it to a dealer who knows that they are doing, when the vehicle falls asleep there is little draw. a faulty module may keep the car awake and cause an unwanted draw. we have seen some of the X5's JBE, CHAMP, and FRM modules wake up the vehicle periodiclly. a TCU will wake the vehicle up every 15 minutes for a couple of days, and then it changes to longer intervals. If you have comfort acess, unfortunatly, any BMW near yours when arming and dis-arming the vehicle will wake up the vehicle. to eleminate this as the cause of the parasitic drain you must remove the pin from the CA module that goes to the rear windshield to continue troubleshooting.
