Hi
I picked up a 1995 740i for $2000

It has few problems, the electric fan is dead and the mechanical fan broke off the clutch and hit the hood damaging the rad, rad hose, water pump and the hood.

Is it possible to by pass the mechanical clutch/fan? Does the electric fan powerful enough to cool the car?

The electrical fan by itself is not enough. However, they do have fan replace kits which replace the mechanical fan with another electrical fan. I believe they even come in kits that come with new radiators. Someone recently posted it here, but I forgot what the company was.

Zionsville Autosport (http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/store/shop.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=6134&Category_Code=CCSE38) has good products. Next time I have a radiator or exp tank crack, I'm going to replace them both with their super cooling solution (http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/store/shop.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=6134&Product_Code=E389SDCK&Category_Code=CCSE38) and be done with it.

If you don't want to spend $$$ on Zionsville, talk to m5james about replacing the fan with an electric.

I've always used a local one here called European/Japanese. Their number is 813-623-3333. Don't know if they ship though, but they always have a lot of parts.
