Does anyone know how to deactivate daytime running light on 2001 740i? I was told that the dealer can do this but they also charge you like $50+! There's no mention of how to do this on the manual but I'm sure it can't be that hard.

What you have been told is correct. Only a dealer or a good independent BMW specialist with the right equipment can do this. They will often charge up to an hour of labor for it.
