Does anyone know of a Toyota Supra gearbox being installed in an E21?
I hear they are great gearbox's and figure they would be a worthy upgrade. :)

Yeap, the 6 speed of a 2JZ in a 2JZ Swap... It had 600 RWHP and was a drift E21 however...

doubt it's anywhere close to a direct swap though.

you would have to get a bell housing plate made up, well see if it fit without to much problems first.
supra boxes are used for swaps a fair bit, turbo supra boxes are meant to be stronger. my mate has one mated to the back of his 13b but he just bought the plate as someone out there makes them for that conversion. also has a ford 9inch in the back to all engineered.

Yeh I figured i'd need an adaptor plate for the bell housing...I wonder if someone makes them for an E21 conversion?
I was hoping someone would know of a write up thats been done?
My dad installed a Celica gearbox in his Mazerati when he was working on it...so he has loads of info on that, of which some of it would help. He ended up making his own bell housing plate, but also had to do alot of other custom mods to make it all fit...

why, the ZF gearbox is plenty strong. If you are going to boost the motor or do drag racing/full throttle shifts you might want to look into the M30 powered cars like 535/635 models. the trans according to Swedish tuners bolts right up to the M10 block

It's a Gertrag, not ZF. And yes it is strong and yes the M30 box will bolt right up and be twice as strong (heavier though) you may or may not have to beat out the transmission tunnel but still no swedish tuners required!

Thanks for the directional point! But i'm no racer. So by the sounds of it, the gearbox might be overkill. I'll see what info I can chase down and work out prices to see if its worth it...

Thanks! Yeh the transmission tunnel was on my mind...
