I'm shopping around for a good used transmission, and Ive seen a few in local yards...just trying to find the best one for my money.

The 318 transmission looks exactly the same as ours, is it actually identical? I would have better luck finding a good one from a 318, they are much more common and have less miles on them.

318i's have 2, a ZF (not the same as anything) and a gertrag that is the same as the 83 only 320i transmission except it has no speedometer drive hole. So only an 80-82 320i transmission will work for you.
