Is there a convention for the marking on the sidewall of a tire, such as seen in the photos below.

The only things that seem obvious are the RF and LR. The dots and slashes are Hieroglyphics to me, not to mention the deltas, 'T', bar, and numbers. They were most likely put there by Dan Law as he did the setup for the previos owner of the tire. The previous owner used to NASA TTs, knowing which may help in understanding the markings.

Location and heat cycles most likely. Some people use dots for short sessions and slashes for long races.

Some use the slash to signify 5. So if you have a tire with 2 slashes, it has 10 heat cycles on it.

Mine never get that far in their life, as they are done by about 8 heat cycles.

Thanks. That would make sense. The tires were used for TT events, hence the greater number of heat cycles they are achieving.

I have added pictures to the OP. Still wondering about these markings. I would like to understand them so I could use the convention for myself when rotating tires.

I would contact Mr Law himself for the code.

When I used to autox, I would add meaningless numbers and markings in order to throw off same class competitors.:devillook
