[This is a Bulk email that is being sent to all Club Racers]
The Tire Rack BMW CCA Club Racing Series 2008 Rules have been posted (2008 RULES HERE (http://www.bmwccaclubracing.com/static/ForTheRacer/BMW_CR_Rules_-_2008_-_v13.1.pdf)).
The Rules Committee thanks everyone who participated in the rules process. While not every suggestion was adopted, they were all considered.
An update will be made in late December or early January to add any clarifications issued for 2007 Rules that carry over to the 2008 Rules.

In 2008.
vinnymac 09-27-2007, 12:07 PM Nice job on the updated rules. I think people will be pleased.
SG_M3 09-27-2007, 01:21 PM I was soo happy to hear we were going to be able to use spherical bearings in 08. Only to to be let down by the locations we are allowed.

Are you refering to not being able to run weight jackers? :confused

H. allows them, but I'm guessing not using a spherical bearing though.
I was more talking about the use of spherical rtabs and lcab.

It looks like we can use rear weight jacks.
Damon in STL 09-27-2007, 02:09 PM I'm curious about the ITR car weights. It looks like most of the ITR cars are placed in JP with some weight subtraction adjustments. The ITR e30 M3 has 26 lbs. added to it and less power (no cams) than the JP e30 M3.
But, what is really curious is the e46's. The ITR e46 325 and 328 are at 269 lbs. and 169 lbs respecively less in weight, while the ITR e46 330 is 136 lbs. heavier than a JP e46 330. What am I missing?

What page # are you looking at? I don't see anything saying they are legal...??? Maybe I am missing it.

We missed adding Rear Weight Jackers to the allowed location. I am told they will be added before January.

No Rear Trailing Arm Bushing replacement.
Rear lower control arms may use Spherical Bearings.

As I read it, looks like 2.H. on page 40 now refers to the use of rear weight jackers?
jayhudson 09-27-2007, 02:56 PM With the addition of weight jackers and the new allowed use of spherical bearings, I like the judicious use of these bearings. Especially for those who didn't want to have to replace all their existing stuff. It doesn't put anybody in the position of having to spend lots of money to stay competitive.
Thanks to Jon and all the others involved in the rules process.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant use of weight jacks with sphericals but it looks like they will be addressing this Jon? Please correct me if I am wrong?
Are spherical's now allowed in the E-30 rear control arms? Also, I think sphericals should have been allowed everywhere in Prepared which might help in cross over competing series.

Hammdy 09-27-2007, 05:28 PM Do they still not allow Porsche 3.5" hfm's?
JonathanL 09-27-2007, 05:50 PM Do they still not allow Porsche 3.5" hfm's?
Not based on my interpretation. :(
vinnymac 09-27-2007, 06:08 PM Do they still not allow Porsche 3.5" hfm's?
Sure doesn't sound like it.
jdholder 09-27-2007, 07:40 PM Not based on my interpretation. :(
I don't think there is much "Interpretation" room here:
Prepared Engine Rule: 1.A.4:
However, any originally equipped AFM or AMM and housing may be upgraded in size with another stock BMW AFM or AMM and housing provided the internal construction and operation is identical, i.e. air flap, hot wire or hot film.

weights are the scca weights, sort of. here is the scca data for ITR
BMW 325i/is (92-95) 2765
BMW 328i/is (96-99) 2850
BMW 330i (00-02) 3290
BMW M3 (88-91) 2650
BMW Z3 2.8L Coupe & Rdstr. (97-00) 2800
BMW Z3 3.0L Coupe & Rdstr. (2001) 3240
the bmwcca rules didn't exactly copy the scca stuff. the z3 ITR was left out of the bmwcca rules for some reason and the e46 325 was added, but is not classified in scca in ITR...it is an ITS car in scca. e46 328 is not classified in SCCA. e46 323 is an ITS car in scca at 3000lbs, but is not listed in bmwcca as such.
a bunch of typos in the bmwcca rules? they should have just reflected exactly what was in the scca competition rules. no need to wing it, just copy......
