I've only hear about this tire.

Good, bad, ugly?

What about the Hooiser R6?

Good, bad, ugly?

What about Toyo R888?

Compared to say shaved RA-1?

New R1's felt great at RA last weekend. Not much overheating on a smooth surface, yet hot surface. Not sure how they would be on a rough surface though.

Even after all the driving last weekend, I still think another full weekend or two can be had from them.

Are you saying you'd be happy to get 2 or 3 track days out of them?

I LOVE THEM....far better than the toyo's on my e36 M3, I am running 245/40/17's all around with front wheel spacers for clearance......They do not last as long as the Toyos', but Hell, I spend a fortune on this hobby, so if an extra $ 50 for tires go into a couple day event....I can live with that....I'll save the money someplace else. Not on tires or brakes..Bob

This thread was exactly what I needed.

I'm gonna order a set for my M3.

The question is 235/40/17 OR 245/40/17 for my 8.5 Kosei K1's????????

The question is 235/40/17 OR 245/40/17 for my 8.5 Kosei K1's????????

I have 235 R1s on my 8.5 Kosei and I have to run a 15mm spacer up front to clear my spring perch. They are definitely wider than 235 Toyo RA-1s. I would imagine the 245 R1 would be a pretty tight fit and you would definitely need spacers.

I have the 245 on the 8.5" Kosei's. You'll need to roll the fenders to make them fit. As far as longevity, they'll last at least 2-3 full race weekends (The RA Club race had about 5-6 hours driving time).

235/40/17 looks to be the way to go.

Thanks guys.

you had to roll your fenders?..I am using stock 8.5's on my e36 M3 and 245/40/17...just curious if the rims are the difference, I mean, I know they are close on mine too and would have to roll to go any bigger in tires

They were rubbing on the rears of the SE36. With stock, unrolled fenders and K1's with a 40mm offset.
