What they need to do is widen the roads, not build more shit here. :shifty

i live pretty close to merrifield and while i would love a new movie theatre, the increase in traffic is going to be a bitch. they have had that part of gallows where they are building the new condos torn up for sooooo long. they definitely need to widen the roads there.

Merrifield is the bane of northern Virginia, IMHO. It's a sad excuse for a place...the article said it best: "a sprawling, semi-industrial hodgepodge." I'll believe it's not when I see it. :shifty

It's also pretty high income, regardless of the mundane appearance. It says it's full of carwashes and an equipment rental place. Somewhat accurate, but they forgot the fast food places, body shops, foreign markets, and (small) chain restaurants.

I haven't seen em. Well, I won't go naming them because there are people in this forum that live there, but

:help

I still hate it. Every time I'm there--like every other day--I feel like I'm in the midwest, with sprawling, industrial nothingness.

I think a face lift for Merrifield is a great idea. With well thought out planning changes could be a definite improvement. I agree that it's industrial in appearance and somewhat dilapidated. I hope they revitalize the area and make it safe and pleasant.

With land there selling for $80+ per square foot- even in this wacked-out market- I'd say the industrial users are gaining substantial motivation to punch out and relocate to other more compatible industrial areas.
