Hi everyone,

Had a little accident in which my rear euro bumper got slightly bent in the middle. I was wondering how should I fix that- get a new bumper for $325 from Bavauto, or have it straightened. How much would it cost to have it straightened ( does it need to be rechromed?).

Any insights? Recommendations on the shops who can do this kind of work in S.CA?

Thanks
Max

is the chrome cracked? If yes then you will have to get it re-chromed. Also, it's not like you can put body filler in there and then get it chromed. It needs to be fully metal work and smooth as a baby's ass before you get it re-chromed. I'd get a professional to qoute you. If qoute > new piece.... there is your answer.

No chrome is not cracked or damaged in any way. But AFAIK to straighten they need to heat it the bumper up- rechrome.
Any recommendations on professionals, all I need is an estimate of some kind. My question is if the cost is more than $150...

Thanks

Its going to cost you more than $100 to re-chrome just the long piece. Not to mention the labor it will cost you to straighten it. IMO I wouldnt even bother with finding out how to get it fixed, I'd just get a new one. Trying to reshape a channel section like that is going to be a huge PITA.

I once had a guy quote me 600 bucks to re-chrome a set of euro's that i was considering buying. What a joke! he wanted 300 for cracked bumpers, and 600 to rechrome - that's more than brand new. sick. and they didn't even come with the rubber strips!
