From what I have read on here, i am suppose to be at 1k-1300 rpms when idleing. well i am currently running 2k-2500 idleing. i have read that i should start with the vaccume hoses, but since this is the first car i have ever done any machanical work on, i am not sure if i just start spraying all over the hoses or what. it is also running pretty rough, could this have anything to do with me putting an 83 fuel pump relay on my 1980? also, it is running cold( never getting to fuel heat, but i am guessing this is some what good?) i put a k&n intake, but i doesnt seem right that it would have an effect on the running temp?
I have a chiltons, but it also refuses to tell me where the idleing adjustment is.
man, i feel like i am walking into a machanic and saying my car is going "rmmm, putt putt, rumble, brooom". i am learning though!

yup you most likely have a vac leak.....you're ok with the relay....what kn intake? the stock filter replacement? also sounds like the thermostat has failed open...you shuld get to the 1/2 mark...josh

Hehe Injected. Check the idle screw.. on the top of the throttle body.
Sometimes it just likes to move around.. loosen it to lower idle.

cant find the throttle body...i know where the cable attatches to give it more gas, but all of that is hidden under that big metal plate with for metal round things coming off(i really dont know anything).
it is a K&N filter replacement with a plastic intake that reaches to the front of the car sitting in between the radiator and the battery. i stripped the whole thing off the 83. it was the only thing not stock on it, so i took that.
i have been trying to figure this out for hours, this is frustrating. the fuel pump was frustrating as well, but now that i have successfully changed that it seems like it would be easy to do it again.

the throttle body is under the intake manifold( big metal plate) the idle adjustment screw can be reached from passenger side on the throttle body.

yeah, she is a 1.8....i must have got the short end of the stick somewhere, but i will take that off tomorrow. i thought i was going to be fixing this problem tomorrow on my day off, but it looks like the altenator is bad too. should have changed that the same time as the battery, like someone told me to!
