I added up all the receipts I have for car parts, services, and repairs, and the cost to maintain my BMW totals over $3,900!

We may have $4,000.00 if I add up all the tires, Brakes, engine rebuild and little what nots - but then I drive the @%*? out of my car and have not spent every much on it's looks. This is for about 10 years worth of driving - considering we got the car given to us, I think it is very low! :D NOTE the $4000 does not include things I've done for racing, coil overs and camber plates.

If you pay to have repairs done then it could cost money to maintain one of these, but then again what would your cost be per year on a new car - and you have to count payments in also!

i dont know how much they were new in 1982 but count the cost of the car then 25 years of keeping it running....a good 200,000 miles. go figure. i guessing between $50,000-$75,000 total

Who would have known the 320i would be the most attractive and ultimately hot-rod-able 3-series to-date? Whatever it costs to maintain turns out is money well-spent.

I have about $4000 into my car counting repairs, tires, a paint touch up. Thats over 5 years. In comparision, my 1980 Firebird Formula will be a $35,000 build by the time I am done. I have about $15000 into the car already and I still need paint, engine, trans, rear, brakes and fuel system then the interior......

i dont know how much they were new in 1982

$16,500 -double the cost of many competitors.

50-75k!!?? Thats ridiculous, even a dealer maintained car couldn't rack up those expenses over 20 years. I don't think you should count fuel and insurance since you need that for any car.

Ok I did buy seat covers $175.85 shipped, new front windshield chrome $56.87 at the dealer, polished the wheels $35.00 ea. and a $6.75 can of paint for fender rolling touch up. So that is a total of ....---... $379.47 for the great looks!!! :eyecrazy

Not sure how to add up the bumper tuck it was all stuff I had and mostly labor so maybe $1200.95 with labor...I ain't cheap!!:D

ive done prob 4000 dollars of labor on 2 320s not including parts. quite simply, an older cars gonna need some work from time to time. heck, any car needs work. the more you use it and the harder you use it the more it needs. just keep it clean, maintained, tell it you love it, and all will be well. i swear my e36 runs better and has less issues when i detail the engine bay, vac out the inside, wash and shammy followed by a window cleaning. it must add 25hp. I miss my old 320 being on the road, i need it back!
