Call your insurance company. They will cover it. OEM glass takes longer to get than the other stuff.

I called my insurance company and they told me to call any company of my choosing and give them the claim number so they will bill them directly.

I called several companies today including Safelite Auto Glass which is a national company.. they said they use their own brand, PPG, LLS or OEM.

Which one is best ?

Is there any difference ?

I have State Farm insurance on both home and auto. I went with Safelite Auto glass and they call Lynnex.. its 4:23 PM and they were supposed to be here by 3PM so they are 90 minutes late.

The comprehensive coverage covers vandalism with no deductible and no out of pocket.. just simply call and give the claim number and that is it.

I am about to call them again...

OEM is best... but I have used PPG before and it was just fine.

Big differences.

PPG, Pilkington (or LOF) and Carlite are the best companies for auto glass. Safelite is absolute junk. Their own brand of glass (SGC) sucks even more than the various Chinese brands that are avaliable. Any national company is going to give you a shit piece of glass while charging the same price.

Avoid companies like Safelite and Diamond/Triumph like the plague. The only time they don't use junk glass is when it's not available.

If it's an insurance claim, INSIST on one of the above brands. Your car deserves good glass.

If they try to tell you it's all the same stuff, than ask them why BMW/Mercedes/Posrche don't use the off brands. That will shut them up every time.

* Disclaimer: The installers aren't the problem with the big companies. It's the junk glass they peddle.

I'd take a Colombian windshield over a Safelite windshield any day. Anything's better than their SGC brand. :)
