My duaghter's friend just got a 2000 Audi S4. We asked him to bring it over to the house to let us see it. It is a beautiful car, plus biturbo and quttro. Nice package. He said it has an aftermarket chip that increases the boost. Not sure how much boost it produces, but he was talking about the car having over 320 hp.

So it was time to take the S4 for a test drive. I followed in my daughters M Roadster (Dinan chip is the only mod). We went to a wide deadend road (5 lanes counting the center turn lane) that is in an industrial park (read: little or no traffic on weekends and nights!!) and played for a few minutes. I ran against the S4 4 times and the result was the same each run- the roadster was much faster. Two runs are worth reporting on. The first run he got a jump on me before I got on th gas and was about 2-3 cls ahead (rolling start in 2nd gear). Once I got on the gas I started pulling on the S4. When I shifted into 3rd I was still pulling, then he shifted and I pulled ahead without much trouble. I was 2-3 cls ahead by 120. Another run, we did a rolling start- 2nd gear I was around 4000 rpm. My daughter yells GO and we hit the gas. This is a strong part of the power curve for the roadster and it immediately started pulling hard. So while I was racing toward the redline the Audi was waiting for the boost to come on. But once the turbo was spooled up he still couldn't handle the roadster. I kept pulling untill we shut it down.

BTW, in my M3 and the roadster, I love hitting the gas at 4000 rpm in 2nd gear. The car pulls hard! No turbo lag when you have a lot of low end torque. Yesterday I took a new Z4 for a test drive. I got a card from BMW offering 2 pounds of Godiva if I would test drive a Z4. Hey, sounds good to me. I drove the 3.0 version. While driving I did the 2nd gear 4000 rpm thing. This engine is rated at 225 hp vs 240 for the M, but it does not have the kick of the M. Much slower to respond. The handling feels tight, but I could not test the limits on the test drive. The interior is wider than the M roadster. I'm not sold on the apperance inside or out. Guess I will stick with the Ms.

Awesome.

M power all the way.

On my way to meet the fellas in NoVa I played with an Audi on 5 north. Each time we got on it I'd leave him behind. We were touch and go to about 120 and each time I put car lengths on him.

Thats actually pretty surprising. The guy in the s4 must have been a really bad driver to lose that bad. I was riding in a chipped/exhaust S4, and we easily pulled away from my friends M roadster. It wasnt even close. BTW nice kill!

Have to agree here, the guy must have sucked at driving or maybe it was a tip. The s52 is not a low 13 sec car and a chipped s4 is. GOOD KILL

Great race story! I have seen a few M Roadster's (240 hp variety) in the Z3 Forum's Power Ranking List that run low 13's (13.2 - 13.4) with very few modifications.

Having had an S4 before my getting my 01 roadster. I'm going to say he has the APR software, seeing how slow it was. Anyway nice job, have him check the TBB for tears too, he should know that that means.

That torque is amazing in the MZ cars. My car comes alive at 2K rpms. It just wants to kill!

Nice run, but the S4 experiences little if no turbo lag. The tiny K03 turbo's begin to spool at around 1,500 RPM on the S4's. Stock, full boost is around 2,000 RPM. With the APR chip, the K03's will spool to 1.2 bar at about 2,400 RPM then drop to about 0.8 to 0.9 bar to redline.

Stock S4 with APR chip makes 307 HP and 366 LB FT TQ. But it weighs a couple of tons. Too heavy to compete with the little M's.

BMW mailed a card to my house, to my wife actually. Don't know how they got her name. She hates cars! The deal is- take a test drive in a Z4, get the dealer to sign the card, and mail it back to BMW. They will then send you a certificate for the Godiva (yes 2 POUNDS) that you can redeem at a local supplier (major department stores, etc). Sweet deal (pun intended). I'm still waziting on the certificate). The dealer here in atlanta has seen a lot of the cards. I don't know if it is regional promotion or what. Anybody else get one?

ok guys. sorry for all of the excitement, but I am not a mom. I am a 24 year old girl. My dad posted a message and didn't realize the I forgot to logout. He is Atl M3. I am Mroadstergirl. I have posted under his name on accident a few times too. OOPS! I did think the MILTR was a pretty funny comment though. I do lots of autox and race guys on the street (who assume I will be slow) and stuff like that and will someday be a mom who races too! Have a great weekend and I will be in SC next weekend driving a red M Roadster and the SEDIV at the Michelin plant. If anyone is there, please come introduce yourslf!
