I thought I would post here, and reach out for some help. I'm from Seattle, long time BFC member.
My wife is a huge musical fan, and has never been to New York. For her birthday, I am surprising her with a trip to NYC for 3 days. A local friend here works for a hotel chain and offered up a friends and family coupon that he had (which was very gracious), it basically made a hotel room that is normally 600 bucks, turn into $125 a night. I called the hotel, and they have openings, so I ask the guy to book it, he says "sorry that code is not valid during these times" I politely ask why, and he says that it doesn't tell him, and thats that.

The issue is, I was under the assumption (my fault) that there weren't restrictions to this. I booked my plane tickets a week ago. I made the plane tix reservations, based on the fact that I could afford the room without a problem at $125 a night. $600 A NIGHT is a little bit different though.

Is there ANYONE here that works for a hotel thats reasonably close to Times Square/Broadway area that may be able to help? Or that works for a hotel chain that could get me a good deal on a room in NYC? I will be more then happy to repay the favor in any way that I can. This is just one of those simple miscommunications that went the wrong way

try the outer bouroughs of NYC or Jersey city hotels. Local nyc subaway or NJ Path Train can bring you into Manhattan. It may appear overwhelming at 1st but its not as hard as most tourist think once you try it.

Even my friends who are hotel employees have a tough time getting good rates.
