Just bought an 02 M3 SMGII and I have some general questions. Please enlighten me.
1) What is the eeeeeeiiiiiiiii sound that comes from my engine bay when I unlock the doors on the car?
2) Anyone have issues w/rear end or SMGII?
3.) Anyone have questionable vibrations comming from under the hood?
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

1) What is the eeeeeeiiiiiiiii sound that comes from my engine bay when I unlock the doors on the car?
It's German for "doooo aaaaa seeeeaaaarrrrrch".
Seriously, it's the SMG pump priming.
2) Anyone have issues w/rear end or SMGII?
No, but if it's a "spongy" feeling during acceleration, you probably need to get your RTAB's (Rear Trailing Arm Bushings) done. Search "RTAB".

1) SMG pump
2) do a search on SMG and/or Transmission problems - this will yeild a lot of results.
3) uh...explain. If the engine is running rough you might want to get it checked out because it could be a number of things. The S54 series engines do have a bit of a 'pulse' to them - meaning they are high output and will hiss and tick a bit more than you might be used to; this is mostly normal for the E46 M3. Like I stated - if you are worried have it checked out by a professional.
All that being said - your best bet will be to search on the forum - there are a lot of knowledgable folks here that can pretty much answer all your questions. That being said...there is the other side of the coin here as well - eventually you will find out what is good advice and not (most of it is good though). Also when you do a search on 'problems' with any car - it will seem that a ton of folks have severe problems (i.e. SMG) when in fact the majority of folks never discuss it since it works normally for them; as with anything, it is only mentioned if there is a problem with it. Best of luck..
Cheers,
Bill
