Alright guys I've got a bit of a dilemma. After this coming winter I'll be looking at getting a new car. I can afford a couple nice cars, but the problem that always seems to plague me is insurance.

I've narrowed it down to either an 01 M3 (in the price range) or a 02-03 330CI. My main thing is that I want something to be a good, fairly reliable DD, but I'd like to be putting down at least 250whp.

M3 obviously has those numbers stock and is obviously one of the best looking cars out there, but the major downsides are that A) I'd be looking at a higher mileage ///M (60k) B) They require valve adjustments often and go through tires/brakes faster and C) My insurance will be through the roof.

330CI obviously does not have those numbers, and that is one of the things I'm asking. How much WHP do these put down stock? I know that it really can't be much more than maaaaybe 200, so what kind of mods can I look at to get it up there? Turbo/Charger Kit? Obviously I'd be doing Intake/Headers/Exhaust/Chip, so if anyone knows what kind of power I'll be making with those mods please chime in. The good side of the 330 is that my insurance won't be crazy money (still enough though), it doesn't require as much maintenance, etc.

So you guys are the experts, help me out! :stickoutt

If you are worried about the maint cost than I suggest that you go with the 330. M3 is by far a much more fun car to own. I use mine as a DD and not had many issues. The only one that I can think of is the recall on the coils, other than that she is great!! Back to cost, Maint. II will run you around 1k or a little less if you take it to an independent shop. It seems like you will be stretching your funds to own an M or be comfortable with the 330. Look around for a 330 ZHP and throw a S/C on it. Should be fun!!
