I saw a car without the model number like the 325I in the back. It looked pretty good, just checking if anyone has taken out the 325I chrome digits please help me with that i mean if there is any special technique (i was kind of worried because i was not sure if they are going to be any holes or is it adhesive and can i clean up the adhesive or do i need to do a paint touch up job)????????

Nah, just use dental floss then get rid of the residue. As far as taking it off, if I had a 325 or 328 I probably would take it off. I dont think I am going to take it off the 335. Good luck man.

Why not? are you that insecure?
Just kidding...sort of...

Seriously....The idea of taking the badge off for me is simply for looks. I took the S4 Badges fof my Dad's S4 the first week he had it for the same reason I took the badging off the back of my 328i. They look retarded and detract from the back (and front) of the car.

I think you might like the idea of showing of your 335i logo a little too much. The understated look of debadged rear ends on high performance cars is one of the best.

I see your point, but then again I am really proud of my car, and when I stop at a red light, I don't want Honda Civics revving their little 1.8's at my thinking theyll beat me off the line. Even though, I am sure some of the tuned one could, I don't want to go to that level. I know there are differences between the 328 and 335 as far as appearance, I was going to get a 328, but its just for that situation. Hope you understand.

Debadged mine, I think the rear just looks cleaner. Didn't do it for anything else other than I like how it looks better.

no need for the 335i badge when you got dual exhausts stick out the back! :D

Hmm, nose stuck up in the air against us 328 drivers? ;)

For those who want to remove emblems, on other non-forums, those who did it heated the emblem up with a hair dryer to soften the glue. One poster suggested using an industril heat gun but I can't imagine using that because, if it will strip paint from a house, it might strip paint from the car. If I ever decide to do this (can't imagine why) I will use a hair dryer set on high.

Honestly you don't even need to heat it up much, just leave it in the sun for a little bit. Fishing line or dental floss slipped behind the numbers will pop them right off. Then just take some goof off and sit there and soak the rubberized glue for the next 20 minutes, and then peel off the excess with a microfiber towel or similar. Then just re-wax when you are done, since the goof-off will cloud the wax slightly.

BTW, you may notice actual clear/paint is raised in the shape of the numbers after you take them off. Don't worry about this, its just because they haven't seen the sun yet, they will blend in with the rest of the paint in about a week.

I don't understand while people do it, either, although someone told me it's a no-cost option if you build the car. I thought street racers did it thinking that people wouldn't be able to identify what kind of car they had (to police or whomever) after swapping out wheels, lights, hood, etc. To me it makes the vehicle look aftermarket, like someone bondo'd the crap out of their trunk lid. Probably because the rear is so plain it makes the shape/curves of it stand out more, or because it looks like it was just painted.

It's a coupe thing, you wouldn't understand

For some reason I love Audis when they are debadged, but agree with sor that with BMWs it looks like some sort of grey market import. I think it is because Audi's rear end logo is bigger, and the A4 / S4 badge adds heavily to asymmetry. With the BMW, you have this huge trunk lid with a little tiny logo in the center. It looks weird, and not in a good way IMHO.

Personal preference I guess. A guy at work did it with a 5 series. If I had an Audi I would do it, but I'll just keep my BMW how it is...

Uh, wait, are we talking taking off the BMW Roundel or the model designation? Because I would have to agree that taking off the Roundel looks terrible, not to mention that it leaves behind holes in the trunk lid (on most models).

This is what I was talking about

Although your look is clean and I might do it in the near future, I am planning to keep mine with the letters for now.

I don't know what it is, but I just really like the colors of the //M3 badge on my E36..

but then again, I like the de-badged look as well...

I guess its all to suite the liking of the owner...
