Long story short, my clear corner turn signal on front passenger side flew off on I-75 last week. With it went the bulb.
Lucky for me, previous owner had purchased one set of clear corners, never installed as wasn't happy with them (no clue why), and put a different set on.
So, I have the housing and have put it on...and it actually snaps securely in place unlike the other one. Friends say they see little or no difference (other than one has seen weather, other has not).
I went the following day, bought the appropriate bulb from Advance Auto. Went to install it...CRAP. There is a small green plastic piece that sits inside the electrical socket, the bulb presses in and twists to "lock" it into place and make sure it is in proper contact with the wire harness. Well, apparently it got ripped out with the bulb.
Buddy who works @ Advance helped me find replacement harnesses for that type bulb, but the plastic pieces in them do not fit in the BMW's harness.
So, where can I find this tiny green bulb holder for the turn signal wiring assembly? Someone have a spare on a donor vehicle? Or know the part number I can just order instead of a complete assembly?
Local BMW junk yard? Or maybe you have a neighbor with an e36 that is a loser and ass who leaves his car just sitting out unwatched at night (j/k).
Even if someone had a part diagram that would be a start (wish I had looked in the Bentley manual already).
EDIT: so much for a 'short story'
