View Full Version : Best Head in Z4??

I want to replace the business stereo unit.

What I would love is a slide out screen and something that would allow Ipod integration as well, but I understand these cars are a little of a tough fit?

Any suggestions would be great. I have the Pod and wouldn't mind something that integrates (better than the Dice i have now, as I have had 3 with problems) and still maintain wheel controls.

Anyone?

I once considered a slide-out screen nav/head combo I saw at Circuit City. They looked up a dash finish & adapter kit for Z4s on their installation parts computer, and said it would fit (the pic they showed looked right). Since I found a stand-alone nav unit, I never did put the adapter kit to the test, but you may have some luck seeing what they have to offer.

You're correct. Aftermarket head-units don't work with stock amps. You'll need to replace amplifiers as well.

well if someone could suggest a head and amp set up that fits our Din,

I would guess it would sound so good that I could actually get the other head and then write about it:redspot

And I'll be in Vegas during the adult video awards (though not a participant), so the Timing is good

I am using the Kenwood KNA-819DVD (I think anyway), which has a 7" touch screen and I absolutely love it! You have to buy "extras" if you want it to be more than just a stereo though. I purchased the bluetooth kit (which is amazing) and the GPS. I love it...

BTW, I also have a Pioneer Nav in one of my other vehicles...I would not go with one of the Pioneer AVIC-N1, 2, or 3's...

I have a pioneer AVIC-N3 installed in my '03 Z4 with the factory amp.
The factory amp in a '03 is speaker level input. Later year Z4's used a fiber optic cable for the input to the amp. I am not sure when they started this. Anyway the Pioneer navigation works great.
