View Full Version : Roswell, My Garage
T56 Impala 09-12-2007, 08:21 PM Okay, so the title got your attention.
I am currently working on fixing up my tiny 2 car garage at our new house here. I need some ideas for how to dress it up. I have one wall finished. (paint, cabinets, tool box, stuff like that) Now I have 2 more to go. I have a few signs, a few space shuttle pictures but that just won't do! I need somethings to make the place look complete.
Anyone know a local shop where I might find old or repro garage, oil, gas, auto signs? Maybe a nice clock of some sort for the wall? I know everyone on this forum is a picture nut, so I will try to post up a picture of the completed wall.
FWIW, I like just about any car company. Asian not so much but old US and European ones are cool. Maybe a circa 1970 Toyota sign would be okay too. Pictures, framed posters and the like would be good too.
LMK! Thanks
Timsmith 09-12-2007, 08:32 PM I think pictures of scantily clad women are appropriate.

T56 Impala 09-12-2007, 08:43 PM Can you point me in the right direction? I kinda new to the area.
Yellow2 09-12-2007, 08:44 PM you sig reminds me of another big pair I like.....Timsmith hinted at it earlier too. :p
M Junkie 09-12-2007, 08:46 PM sweet. make sure you post some pics when youre done.
finding stuff to put up is easy (http://www.google.com/search?q=garage+art&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a). finding the right thing is tough and takes some looking.
im still looking for the right pics. im thinking i might go with framed bmw posters.
good luck.

That's what I'm doing to my place right now...
Doctor Wha 09-12-2007, 09:56 PM Of all the places in the world, when I went to a Michael's craft store to get a picture frame, I found that they have old-fashioned roadhouse, diner, & gas signs, some of which are actually rather cool.
As for our garage, we have all kinds of stuff; A Z4 poster from the Zentrum in Spartanburg, Turner Motorsports & Mechanix Wear promotional posters, Italian Job posters (the original movie, not the sequel, a vestige of the now-gone MINI days), a "Rosie the Riveter" poster on GP's side, old license plates, and even one of Miss Georgia Tech's flip-flops. We also have the novelty "BMW Parking Only" signs, which you might be able to find somewhere. :D
:cool

qidm67 09-12-2007, 10:18 PM BMW flag on ebay for $13.00
I already bought one off Ebay for $9.00. :alright
PseudoRealityX 09-12-2007, 10:40 PM Most of the big poster websites have lots of car/motorsport related stuff.
JuliusPleaser 09-13-2007, 12:03 AM I have a few goodies for my garage, including a signed Vic Elford Porsche 917 poster, and an uber rare (M Power) poster of the BMW M family of cars parked in front of a dealership. I have a few other posters also - mostly from the 1998/1999 Petit Lemans, Daytona, and Road America.
I also found a fairly cool round 1940's style metal sign that reads "Last Chance Garage" at a Stuckey's or some other junky gas station. :)
Veruca 09-13-2007, 10:05 AM They have some great signs on eBay. You might want to check Cracker Barrel for metal gas station signs as well. I have a Sinclair gas sign that i'll sell you really cheap. I am in Roswell too btw. So if you find a sign that has high shipping see if they will combine or give you a discount on two. There is a mirrored M sign/lettering that I have had my eye on. Were in Roswell? We are on Mabry right in the middle between 92 and shallowford.
LoveLEE143 09-13-2007, 10:45 AM There is a place one street parallel to Peachtree that has a crap ton of old signs. Ask dos Santos he took pics there.
bcart1991 09-13-2007, 11:02 AM I have a couple autographed older PTG posters from '99 or '00 when Said, Jonsson, et al were driving. You're welcome to one, if I can remember where I stashed them...

She's not kidding, they're all up and down the road. Just go into each market you see, and your odds are pretty good.

Yeah, you only need to worry if he starts asking you to dress up like this:

:rofl
bcart1991 09-13-2007, 03:30 PM Oh, I also have a large (24x36) poster of the LeMans-winning BMW LMP car from back then. It's in a cheap Wal-Mart silver frame, but it works.
Yours for the taking. Been sitting in the closet since I moved.

LoveLEE143 09-13-2007, 03:36 PM ROFL at this thread. TPat while you are on Buford you can stop get some pho. Then stop by Follies.
and no geometry is not required on my job. I was talking to someone while typing and that just came out all word. But for the first time in my life last week I actually had to use calculus. I had to find the number of unique combinations for test cases. I still think calculus was the biggest waste of 8 hours in college.

Pho-Sho! But Follies FTL. Oasis is much better. :devillook
Oh and Calculus and I did not get along at all. Although I had to use a lot of it in the military believe it or not for figuring dive tables and drop rates and such.
LoveLEE143 09-13-2007, 03:55 PM Are drop rates the rate at which a navy seal can get a young woman to drop her pants which he meet at a bar.
