Just wanted to let people out there know about a body shop in Sacramento and there business practices.....(Please read the previous post for more info. if you wish.....it will bring you upto date.........

http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/detailing/forum.php?postid=1887953&page=1

yesterday I went back to CAL-STATES Auto Collison off of Power Inn & Folsom Blvd to discuss the repair practices of the shop for the 4th time. In brief my car went in for some damage to the rear end as a result or a accident. Along with the repair the shop agreed to paint the entire car . Kool right! Well the paint job turned out OK but.......It took them over 4 months to repair the rear end and do a complete paint job. When I final got the car back there were many visiable flaws.(Paint runs, Orange peel, unpainted side skirts and mirrors and many scratches from putting the car back together..) So I took the car home and was to return with it in a couple of week for them to go back over the car and sand and polish it out.
On the drive home the first thing that I noticed was that I could hear what sounded like wind blowing in the car. So when I got home I checked out the front windshield trim and they used the old gasket when they replaced the trim also there was a mess clear glue at the bottom noot a foam OEM gasket. It had been ripped in several places. So the next day I went out to inspect the car and found that several more things were damaged. The ground effect were not mounted correctly. There was at least a 1/2 gap with the rubber seal hanging back toward the interior of the body. This was the front and the rear. The front grill on the driver side was very loose.(the end under the turn signal) My locking system no longer worked. I was unable to sync the locks. The trunk lock would not even work(the deck lid was replaced). (they told me it was the locking mechism from my damaged trunk that they used...But even after the accident it was working) Small fastner that hold trim and such were either missing, damaged or replace with ill fitting peices. My door trim on the passenger side where the window goes in was bent up at the end.( Looked like someone tried to remove it from the wrong end not taking the mirror off) it had what looked like a standard screw driver marks on it where they tried to hammer or hit it down. So seeing all this I decided to inspect the interior and the part that they removed. Guess what the door trim was cracked about 4-5 inches on both doors (a result of trying to pry the panels off) My tweeter holders on the sail panels were cracked. The passenger side tweeter was even glued because it was cracked through.
So now I return to the shop trying to be nice. I had with me a printed sheet of what I found on the car went over it with them and the first response was that the car is older and things break. So after going back and forth finally they said that they would replace all the damaged parts..So now they have my car again and 4 weeks go by..I was patient because I wanted it done right.
I pick the car up and now the paint looks good. Its later in the evening so I go home. The front window trim has been replaced..no more wind...and it seemed that they did the need body adjestments no more gaps....I would have to return in a week or so to get the trim parts for the interior.
Now 2 days later I was washing the car because it rained. While drying the car the front lungs (that were removed to paint black) come off in my hand. I'm checking it out and all tab but the top 2 are cracked out. So I call the shop and they said that they would replace it.
So now 3 weeks later I return because the parts are in. I get home that night and start to attempt to remove the front grill to replace the jail bar so the lungs will mount and I'll be damn...They used sheet metal screws to secure the ends of the front grill because the plastice tabs that are suppose to hold it are cracked off. Back to the shop the next day
So now at the shop I bring this to there attention and they are like Ya we knew it so we mounted it this way. They were 2 simple plastics clips that could be replaced! I told them it needs to be fixed or replaced....and that now I'm questioning what else on the repair that is half assed..... He started to get mad and tells me to take it to another shop and have it fixed and they will pay for it. Because they are tired of fixing it. I countered with that there is no way that my car should have more damage to then it came in with. That this is basically a result of the young kids that he has working there that are Assemblinng and disassembling the car...they don't know what the F*&$ they are doing, let along there ASSHOLES from a Hole in the ground! All the DAMAGES & exptra repairs are a result of this. So I also ask for it in writing that they will pay for it and he starts to walk back into the build saying,"Have them call me I will authorize payment for the repair .......Ok so fine I will find another shop to do the work RIGHT and make sure that they pay prior to working on it. If they don't want to they I guess I'll have to sue.
Also to top all this off the polishing job that they did looks awful..there are more swirl marks on the car then before. the black looks like brushed metal.... looks as if they used a filler glaze it hide them.. So after the rain and washing the polish is gone and exposing the real work.

Just thought that I would share this..........I will post pics of all the damaged parts and the car after I wash later today.

Parts damaged or used part replaced by the shop:

Front Windshield Seal and foam gasket (used old seal and glue for a gasket)
Rear window trim needs new clips...
Front Lung Grill both peices.Plastic tabs broken(Fix sheet metal screws)&Plastic clips that hold the lungs on(no fix)
2 tweeter mounts Cracked & glued
2 door panels 4-5 inch cracks--Not fixed
Front & Rear ground effects not mount correctly (1/2 gap)
Door locks will not sync.......
trunk will not lock.........
Damaged door trim on passenger side.....bunt trying to remove
mirror's not painted....
side skirts not painted.......
Over all finish of the paint job has swirl marks and scratchs from the buffer and some burn spots.

I think that this is everything...there probally more that I will find

Now all of the above damaged by the shop they replaced with new parts. But further damage to the front grill(Sheet Screws) is where they no longer take care of it and told me to goto another body shop.......:dunno

What do you think???

I lived there a long time ago, there used to be a great bodyshop north of McClellan, I think it was on Elkhorn but it may have been between somewhere between Elkhorn and Elverta. What is the name of that place?
