hi, im new to the forum and have a question. i am thinking of doing an s50 swap into my 1991 318i and dont know how much to save up (is a long term goal not a soon project). can anyone give me a round about number to be thinking? thanks.

are you going to do all the work yourself? what condition s50 do you want to get and where do you plan to get it from? we need a little more info to give you a good estimate because there are so many variables.

i will be doing the work myself. and i would like a motor healthy enough for a daily driver/ autocross car. i can get the motor from a guy my dad works with for a decent price i think, like 5k.

I don't know much about the s50 but that does NOT sound like a good price to me. Our LS1 and t56 and drive shaft with full accessories only cost 4k...shipped.

the motors this guy builds are for e36 race cars he said he would hook me up. the 5k for me is one of his race engines but i dont know what he would want for a street one.
