I have an m3 convertible and i'm wondering if i should get a new alarm system. I'm sure the one already installed is fine but is it really that great?
Secondly, i just got the car and it has new tires, and i was wondering about how long it will take me till i need new tires. i know it varies with the driver, but how many miles do you normally get out of them? and when i do change them, how much does each wheel cost?

i was looking online cuz i really want to get rid of the stock 18" rims. Don't get me wrong they still look amazing, but i want to get some nicer rims. i was wondering if i should get 19" rims and wheels.
something like this

what i really want are the rims from the competition package(the CSL rims) but i dont know where to find them. What do you think? should i get new rims? and if so, are the rims on the link above overpriced?

The 19' ZCP Competition Rims are also the ones I want. You can get them at the dealer for about 2 grand. But also remember, when you go to 19's, your tires get MUCH more expensive. THe Michelon Pilot Sport PS2's go for around $330 / tire for the 19's. They are about $100 less for the 18's.
Just get the OEM alarm for your M3. It does a very good job. I paid about $300 or so for mine with programming. I dont dare mess with the electrical system in the car. The OEM alarm is plug and play. Hope this helps :)

Yes the OEM alarm works great. Congrats on the new M3.

Try modbargains. You can pick the wheels up at Velocity Motoring near the 5/55 intersection. I purchased CSL reps for my 3'er and M3 from them. No complaints, *no* issues, and the price was right. EAS is just another Velocity reseller with more markup.

I buy my tires from Tire Rack. I just replaced the rear tires and I paid about $550 for the two. Not sure what the shipping cost would have been since the warehouse is only 15 miles from my home. I always pick up.

You won't get much more than 30K out of your tires. Less if you drive hard.
I think that the alarm system is fine.
Congratulations on your new M car.

thanx a lot everyone. i'll look up that oem alarm. i'm in a pretty safe area but i really dont take a chance. i find myself randomely going to my car and just admiring it sitting there : ). so i really would hate anything to happen. as for the rims, i really would like to see how they look on the car itself. They are pretty much the CSL rims (the website says they are CSL style). but if going from the 18" to the 19" is there a big difference in the ride? not that i really care if it were more bumpy(id actually enjoy that), but just curious.

Some one else already said this, but I feel the need to elaborate:
Before you plop out $ for 19" wheels, decide exactly what tires you want. The go to Tire Rack or Discount Tires, whatever, and price the exact same tires in both 18" and 19". I believe you will be somewhat shocked by the price difference.
Particularly if you elect to run a very sticky, high performance but low tread life tire. There's nothing like popping for nearly $2,000 worth of Eagle F1's every 6 months to make you decide to stay with 18" wheels.
Good luck,
