1992 BMW 525i station wagon. Blue exterior, Blue interior. Heated, Powered seats. 178k miles. $2,800 obo. All fluids up-to-date; just had latest BMW Inspection service done. I've owned this wagon for about 5000 miles; I purchased it locally and planned to fix the sunroof and then personally drive it around. However, I never got the sunroof fixed.

Starts, runs, and shifts well. Doesn't eat or drip any fluids under my ownership.

The previous owner had the following done (about 6 months ago):

1. All four interior door panels are re-upholstered
2. The headliner around the sunroof was completely new
3. New power steering gearbox
4. New tires.
5. New front right brake caliper, new brake pads, rotors resurfaced.
6. Rear door re-wired
7. Resurfaced front seats (a little bit different from reupholstery--uses leather filler to fill in cracks)

The diagnosis is that it needs sunroof "lift pieces" in order for sunroof to work. They're little diamond-shaped plastic pieces which are a common point of failure on these sunroofs. I attempted to fix this particular problem by having a used sunroof installed but it ended up having the same problem about a week later. The plastic pieces are about $10 each and there are two of them. The labor will be expensive unless you can do it yourself. The sunroof, as is, does not leak and is currently solidly closed (but not stuck). The sunroof motors and control box work fine and I can prove it--the headliner surrounding the sunroof is removed currently and you can run the motors disconnected to the sunroof linkage. I can have the headliner re-installed for you (included in the purchase price) or I can leave it out if you're planning on finishing up the sunroof fixes.

Email me with questions, thanks! I'll happily meet you between Chattanooga and Atlanta for serious buyers.

Every car I find online now has this problem. Looks promising and then the inside is blue.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just bought a 525iT and it has a tan interior, which I think 99.5% of all E34 models had :) based on my shopping.
