View Full Version : New Z4 coupe...Service intervals?
Mr 535i 09-11-2007, 08:28 PM My dad got a new Z4 coupe, call the stealership to get info on the service intervals and they told him the first was at some ridiculous high mileage(can't recall it at the moment). Can someone tell me the recommended service intervals in this car?
JimS Z4 X3 09-11-2007, 08:40 PM The recommended mileage is 15,000 miles. I have a 2006 Z4 3.0si Roadster and my dealer performed a free service after one year even though I only had 8,100 miles at the time. They said they would perform the service again when I accumulate 15,000 miles.
Mr 535i 09-11-2007, 09:16 PM Thanks that was the same thing our stealership told us 15,000 miles, no wonder the give a 4 year free maintenance.
BimmerZealot 09-11-2007, 09:30 PM Yup same here 15,000 mile, didn't hear about the 1 year service but I'll definitely check on it. 15,000 miles is a long time, stupid stealership

This topic has been beaten to death already...
RobMCoupe 09-11-2007, 09:45 PM The dealer will change your engine oil and wiper inserts annually regardless of mileage. They call it low mileage oil service. The inspection service is every 15k. I believe they will flush the brake fluids every 24 months.
There are many discussions on this. I changed my engine oil around 2500 miles. There are many discussions whether this is necessary. It makes me feel better to get fresh oil filter after the initial break-in period. The dealer charges around $75 for oil service.
KPACOTKA 09-11-2007, 10:20 PM Nobody has time to RFM or do search. I love such kind questions, because easy to answer and it keeps forum alive.
Kevlar 09-12-2007, 08:38 AM Clarification... Inspections are every 30k and oil service is every 15k ... this of course varies with how hard you drive the car. More cold starts, more hard driving, noticeable increase in fuel consumption will cause the car to request oil services/inspections sooner.
In my M3, I was getting oil changes every 9000 as requested by the car.

You are correct. 15k is oil service. My apology.
inline6fan 09-19-2007, 09:56 PM I too was perplexed by the exceeding long intervals for oil changes. Despite all the assurances of the dealer regarding the high tech oil, superb tolerances, ect., I remain skeptical that it is a good policy to not change the oil after the break in period.
I just hit 1600 miles on my wonderful Z4 coupe, and I'm doing the oil change. I figure for $75 it is worth it for peace of mind. I know that more than one writer in Bimmer magazine is skeptical about the long oil-service intervals. They pointed out that the M series Z4 does require the oil change immediately after the break-in period.:rolleyes
AndyZ 09-19-2007, 10:44 PM IIRC - there was a prior discussion on this topic. one of the posters had sent his oil in for analysis. Have you tried searching the forum?
