Hello, I have a 2003 M3 convertible, 32k miles, mint. The convertible top makes a considerable amount of noise, rubbing and rattling, kind of like a cooler full of ice in transit. I have the entire vehicle tinted out, and have removed the tint from any area which contacts the convertible top. I have read about using silicone spray to stop squeaks, but am apprehensive about spraying anything on or around the windows and top. The noises cannot be isolated, and seem to come from all over the top and rear deck lid. Putting the windows down decreases the noises significantly. Does anyone have a solution to this problem, Thank you, david

Dry graphite spray on a rag. Rub the tops of the windows only about a half inch from the edges. Then...ski wax...again on a rag and rub the inside edges of the top. I pretty much reduced my noises to zip.

BMW has a service bulletin on this squeaking. Mine was fixed under warranty.

any chance you can pull the paperwork and let me know what the TSB # was, or how the tech noted / labeled this?

Lorkar is right. I also have an '03. It's my sixth vert of varying makes and models. There is no way to stop the squeaking permanently on any vert due to the lesser amount of structural stability.
The BMW recommended fix lasts about a year or so on my car in NJ. I have the HT on all winter. Reapply the fix once every spring does the trick for me.

whats the BMW recommended fix? Is this something I can do myself at home or does it need to go to the dealer?

The only way to control the noise is constant maintenance. Everytime you wash the car, reapply the lubricants, mentioned above. Clean and lube both the window edges and the roof channel, that the window seats into.
