My car is a 2001 525i. The air bag light came ON. I took it to an indy shop (the owner is a friend of mine). After a scan with a top-of-the-line Snap On scanner, the result came out with left and right side air bags. He tried to reset the light, but it came back ON within a minute. He said it is more likely the sensors, not the air bags. Is this something I can fix? Where are the sensors' locations? How easy to replace the sensors? Most of all, how expensive are these sensors? Thanks

I have the same problem.. well I've been told these airbag sensors (and or seat sensor control units) are failing sometimes.. it's a quite common problem. Airbag sensor control units are located underneath driver's and passenger's seats and sensors are inside the seats (where you ass is :P).

Well in USA:
Control Unit for SRS System Passenger Seat Sensor - $48.02
Seat Sensor Mat to Detect Passenger for Seat Belt/SRS System - $91.35

I can't manage to find any online store in Europe to buy this ones for me grrrrrrr. If i order these from States.. ill pay like double at customs.

Anyway.. good luck fixin'. ;)
