Bolidoendiablad 09-11-2007, 09:15 AM I spoke to a friend of mine who has a friend that works in a station doing the inspections; this guy said that he didn't hear anything about it and it doesn't make any sense because older cars are worse at emissions than newer. So here we are for someone to bring more light to this. I haven't check prices for cats, but I'm sure I'll need more than $500 to buy ones for my car...plus the O2's.....:( savage217 09-11-2007, 09:40 AM I have heard this from other car guys as well and its true in some other states according to Bealeass. I dont see why this wont be happening. 00BMW540i6 09-11-2007, 10:22 AM Any idea what states this affects? StealthBM 09-11-2007, 11:57 AM I've heard next year around September 2008 the state might get rid of the dyno testing. :redspot Bolidoendiablad 09-11-2007, 05:39 PM I guess I'll have to do the "trick" one more time until next year....:devillook m3saloon 09-11-2007, 07:27 PM No it is true, OBD1 or older cars will no longer need to run on the dyno because alot of the crap to test thoes cars are out dated. (same principal as antique cars not needing emmisons) all obd2 cars also do NOT need to run on the dyno. they simply get plugged into the computer and the car tells exactly how its been running. they can tell everything from just that little snitchin obd2 port.. ninety5M3 09-11-2007, 07:33 PM No it is true, OBD1 or older cars will no longer need to run on the dyno because alot of the crap to test thoes cars are out dated. That is exactly how NY does it, definitely sucks for the OBD2 people, guess there goes doing a euro swap and registering it in MA...oh well thank god I didn't just do it like I was going to over the summer. Mracerxx 09-11-2007, 07:55 PM well, idk in other states, but it was banned in florida long time ago. Oh, for all cars, not just OBD1. We don't do it down here anymore. :D m3saloon 09-11-2007, 08:06 PM when does this go into effect and is your source credible its eather in effect jan 08 or sep 08 for some reason its one of thoes mounths.. but yes it is credible i deal with cars everyday its my job. ninety5M3 09-11-2007, 08:44 PM :woot::alrightits eather in effect jan 08 or sep 08 for some reason its one of thoes mounths.. but yes it is credible i deal with cars everyday its my job. allen201 09-12-2007, 09:47 AM Here in NH they don't hook you up to the machine or anything like that, but they are still required to do a visual inspection. If the cats are missing, you fail. They don't have to work, but they must be present. 00BMW540i6 09-12-2007, 10:14 AM Here in NH they don't hook you up to the machine or anything like that, but they are still required to do a visual inspection. Anyone find out anymore info on this? I heard its already in affect. Not sure though. m3saloon 11-03-2007, 05:20 PM OBD 1 cars will hafto pass a visual inspection (look for cats) and a audiable (listen for leaks). NO more dyno NO more NOX/CO2/O2 read outs. just a safty inspection and a exhaust check. you do need to have cats visible. savage217 11-03-2007, 06:37 PM OBD 1 cars will hafto pass a visual inspection (look for cats) and a audiable (listen for leaks).
