Reviews?

I only get out to Colorado 2 times a year. Want to spend a couple weekends at Sugar I think. Anyone tried the others?

I am a snowboarder and basically just want runs to carve up. Not a die hard trick thrower.

Sugar is the best in NC. If you come out to Boone you can hit up Hawk'snest and Beech too.

Snowshoe is worth the extra drive time. I preffer Beech to Sugar- they within minutes of each other, try both....

P.S. watch the ice patches, you can bust your a$$ if your only used to skiing out west.

Don't waste your time with NC or WVa. If you are going to go through the time of driving to either, you could have flown and been in a good resort with good terrain. Every few years I get dragged to NC or WVa and every time I wished I would have gone out West. This is even when the snow is decent. Boone has grown into a great town though.

Hmmm 2 tanks of gas to get to and from. 50 bucks. Ticket to snowmass 400+ times 2... my ticket at christmas was 850 dollars... so yah i might as well just fly out west...

I will try it first. I am not expecting Colorado conditions. I am expecting NC conditions.

k so i just saw this... i've been hitting up sugar for the past few years when i'm back from college and can grab my brother and get up there for some boarding.

sugar is about the best you can get around these parts,

beech what you're gonna run into is ice out the ass and a good deal of yardsales left and right,

hawksnest is moguls and some ramp last I was up there,

and snowshoe although nice.... really isn't worth that much more of a drive just to get up there unless you're gonna fly on you're private jet.

summary: you'll like sugar just fine, and you may even see my dumbass with my vert up there haha!

I go to Beech every year. It it worth the drive to go Snowshoe, but for all its worth, I love Beech MTN. Sugar is fun as well. Seems like everytime I have been, Sugar has been packed while Beech was not.

. Boone has grown into a great town though.

Not for those of us that live there! lol.

I don't board, but I used to ski alot. Sugar is a blast, lots of trails and all, but I've heard they need to do some maint on it. App ski is a joke, don't even bother. I've not been to beach in so long I don't have a clue what it even looks like. It's not been too popular with the people I've talked to lately though (we own an inn in Blowing Rock, 7 miles from boone). I live almost on top of hawksnest and beech. Hope that we have a good winter this year, the past 3-4 have been TERRIBLE. Almost all the slopes were closed for 3-4 weeks this past winter because there was no snow and it was'nt cold enough for long enough to make enough snow to make the slopes usable. We need the h2o from the snow! Hope this helps some though...
