View Full Version : E30 Rear apron on an E21
BoostedE21 03-13-2003, 04:44 PM Take a look , thats an E30 rear apron, I was wondering and thinking it might fit our cars, of course it would have to be moded abit to fit but..what do you guys think?here (http://www.freedomdesign.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FD&Product_Code=46817&Category_Code=fdbmw)
it does look pretty close......not sure tho. altho.....when we were putting on my front spoiler this past weekend, we found out that the e21 zender side skirts would fit on an e30 (might need to be modded a bit, but it's pretty close).
if u could get the dimensions of that rear skirt from that place, i'll measure my zender rear skirt, and we could see how close they really are.
BoostedE21 03-13-2003, 06:21 PM I will try that, and let you know what I come up with. If its close...I'm going to do it and get the E30 side skirts too.
MattE21 03-13-2003, 06:35 PM i like that! hopefull y it will fit.. i gotta get a kit soon
Yonkers320is 03-13-2003, 09:59 PM where did you get the Zender rear apron from? I been looking for it everywhere...
I seen a guy in England put E36 front and rear bumpers on his E21 320. They fit, but where a little long on the wheel wells. The front took a little work to mount and fit, but fit.
It was on a BMW Power magazine.
i got a zender rear skirt and side skirts used from a guy in socal who just bought a 320i to part it out (he had a turbo kit too, but someone snapped that up quick)
the rear skirts i got are made for euro bumpers.......but whoever put it on that other 320i mounted it on the US bumper, cracking one part from being squeezed by the tail pipe & bumper (the crack is'nt too noticeable until u see it up close....but some bondo can probably fix it).
TheNeek 03-14-2003, 01:21 AM J - Don't use bondo on your body kit. There is this plastic 3M fill we used on Jake's Front end on the E30 M3. It's great stuff and won't flake off if it's stressed like bondo will. Go to Jake's side of the webpage to get details.
cool okay........yea i've been hearing bad stuff about bondo and how easily it can crumble off
just took a look, looks like it worked great! i'll pick up a bottle this weekend (where'd u find it at? autozone/pepboys places or homedepot/lowes places?)
also where did u pick up the primer for urethane parts? (i might do that myself to save a little $$$ on painting).
also, when r ya gonna be in phx? the whole spring break? we should do a little bmw photoshoot, get-together, or workday thing. i can't really do much this weekend; but i should be good to go on most other days (haven't checked my work schedule yet).

The filler was picked up here in Tucson, but I think you can get everything at Space Age Autopaints in Mesa. My buddy used to work there and it's a great place for all things paint oriented. I know the primer is there. I think you can get in a rattle can. There is also a derivative of the filler that Jake used that has a longer work time. I'd HIGHLY recommend using that rather than the short work time stuff we had.
As for spring break. I'm working every day during the week and will probably be up next weekend. I was hoping to fly up on friday afternoon and hanging out until sunday evening. I'll get in touch before I leave. Hopefully I get the dinan chip and the seats in this weekend. We'll see.
cheers,
awesome, yeah, i think that space age place is where matt got that urethane tube. i'll check it out this weekend.
thanks nic.....hope to see ya next weekend. is jake coming up too w/ his m3? i saw a really nice red one the other day (almost thot it was jake's but it had......iowa plates......i think)

TheNeek 04-17-2003, 07:07 PM This was posted on Roadfly... so I guess that means the E30 rear skirt can be put on. how much fabrication was required, is not known.
