I cannot get to the two bolts that hold the starter on without taking off the intake manifold. If I take the manifold off, I need a special tool to put new hose clamps back on the intakes for each of the cylinders. Does anyone know of a better way of doing this? The starter is supposed to come out from below the car, but I cannot get a wrench in there to access the bolts. And yes, I have taken both the plastic and aluminum covers off the bottom of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My car wont turn over, and it's getting voltage to the starter on terminal 50. The Bentley manual says this is most likely a bad starter.

I know on the earlier M3's (e36) you had to remove the intake to access it, and this motor is very similar, so I would expect that it also requires removing the intake. It sucks, but a Chevy V-8 its not.

How many miles on the car?
If the mileage is not too high would it be a case of a lot of
stops and starts?
Had a case where there was voltage at the terminal but due to
carbon and pitting on the starter relay there was not enough
current passing to pull in the solenoid.
Are you taking your voltage measurement at the starter connection
or at the diagnostic plug?

I was taking the voltage right from the starter terminals. The car has 60k on it now, and I wouldnt say it has abnormal use.
