View Full Version : Cup Holder Solution 87 m6
memphoman 09-07-2007, 05:37 PM Always an entertaining question. I asked this when I owned a Porsche 968, and now here i am again asking it. What's out there. What have you done to accomadate an u;timate beverage while driving an ultimatr driving machine?
p.s. I did a search and got nothing in this forum
rugbywinger13 09-07-2007, 06:22 PM No beverages allowed while driving unless my wife is willing to hold both our drinks...which of course she isn't...she's only willing to hold her drink...um...so yeah no beverages allowed in the car unless its hers!
In my ix there is a nifty little spot between my seat lower bolster and the door that accomodates a beverage very nicely...some time there's a mishap which is why I don't drink and drive in Traudl.
memphoman 09-07-2007, 06:46 PM I've found all the books (LOL). I love the irony of the description above (gentleman's touring car) and no drink holder. But they all have ashtrays LOL
rugbywinger13 09-07-2007, 07:54 PM yes, yes...I do believe that the Germans did not believe that we DESERVE cups holder...especially in a GT car...but smokes? I can only imagine the well yellowed fingers of Franz as he balls down the autobahn!

The reason why you don't find anything is you shouldn't be drinking in your M6!!! :D
memphoman 09-07-2007, 09:09 PM I'm going to like this forum :)

memphoman 09-08-2007, 11:13 AM This is what I had in the porsche, and it was awesome. I'm thinking this could slip in under the lip of the console in a similar manner. I'm new so you'll have to seach item # 190138530729 on eay to see it. I am NOT the sellar of this item for the record. Just ytrying to solve a problem. :)
Alex E24 E30 09-08-2007, 01:23 PM For the ones who aren't afraid to have drinks in the sixer - http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/
Started out with them on my E30, then moved them to the E24 when I totaled the former. They work great....only downside is that they tend to slide from front to back of the footwell. Almost 5 years use and no spilled drinks:redspot
memphoman 09-08-2007, 02:16 PM Now, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout Aweome. Thanks.
Which model works best in the E24?

memphoman 09-08-2007, 06:33 PM I can vouch for the porsche one--it's bullet proof--but as you see it requires a screw. The one thing that concerns me about the slick one above is there's no bottom to catch the spillage. The drug store one looks interesting. What other colors did you notice? I suppose they don't have a lotus white? :)
roccaas 09-08-2007, 11:16 PM Your local boating store will sell you a white (or black) fold down cup (beer can with Koozie) holder for less than $15. Does require screws, unless you coat the backside with Velcro. Will hold some overflow.
I bought a $0.99 plastic holder (supposed to hook to the side window lip, but the M6 door bolster upholstery is too thick). It WILL hook between the edge of the plastic surrounding the ashtray where the plastic meets the leather bolsters (either driver or passenger side). Hangs down into the footwells.
Holds my Arnold Palmer (half Sweet Tea, half Lemonade) on the way to the course. BTW, how may golf bags will the Shark eat?
memphoman 09-09-2007, 12:11 AM I know 1 fits. Barely

Hey, I get three of the normal size bags in the trunk; you know, not the round, two foot diameter, "caddy shack" varity! But then again, I don't have the white bucks or the plaid pants either. :) :cool
Here is the over priced ($45), BMW version of the Porsche cup holder above from Bav Auto, looks like the $6 drugstore version to me:

They have a flat one also to go on the console if you can find a place:

In these colors:

memphoman 09-09-2007, 09:33 AM LOL! It does look like the the $6 one. Thanks guys. Now I have another decision to make. This one won't be as nearly as expensive as th one I made to fully resore my M. I should be driving her again before the end of the week (drooling).
CW6er 11-05-2007, 03:11 PM Yet another cup holder at BavAuto.com, it slips on the door pocket and claims to fit everything from a mug with a handle, to a big gulp:
