I was about to post a thread asking it. There is propably a power wire connected to the headlight cables, most likely right behind the switch to turn on the headlights, all should take is cutting that wire. I don't know what affect, if any, that will have on the electrical system. tsweers89 09-08-2007, 02:05 PM i think it would loook better without them too ultimachi 09-13-2007, 12:43 AM I was so thinking that last night when i was backing up my girlfriends car in a dark driveway. The difference is that a 50 percent load is sent to the high beams to illuminate it. Why would you want to get rid of it anyways. It helps people see you and it also lowers your insurance with some agents. Plus I think it makes the car look aggressive. mookish 09-13-2007, 11:03 AM That wire is the same wire that works the high beam. And it's a fact that they burn more gas too. As long as your car has the DRL option, you can get the insurance discount, they won't know it's been turned off. The dealer can turn off that option without you hacking any wires. They "may" charge you. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=818026 BoostInduced 09-13-2007, 12:23 PM Here's a good read about weather DRL's are really safer or not. Oh yeah and take your A/C compressor and get a manual transmission. Better Make sure your tires have EXACTLY the right PSI. not to high or low, for that affects gas mileage. You better not have modded your car in such a way it would use more gas either. mookish 09-13-2007, 02:29 PM If you're really that worried about gas, you should of gotten manual crank windows, torn your radio out, those waste gas too. "If daytime running lights were on all the vehicles in the U.S., we would burn an extra 406 million gallons of gas each year. That's only a couple gallons for each vehicle, but in total it is more than all of the vehicles in the country burn in a day. At $1.50 a gallon, that's $600 million per year. Looking at it another way, an extra 8 billion pounds of Carbon Dioxide would be added to the atmosphere" Reading Is Fundamental ultimachi 09-13-2007, 04:30 PM Umm, the discussion talked about burning more gas as a whole, not per individual car... You'd loose your highbeams too, but I'm sure those use even more gas. :) |
