I have an e36 325i, and have been giving a lot of thought towards gutting the rear of the car (everything behind the driver and passenger's seat including the trunk). My only concern is, wouldn't that mess up the weight distribution? It seems to me that by removing all that weight in the rear, my car would be way too front biased. If this is in fact the case, what are the easiest methods to cure this problem?
Thanks for any/all input.

Lose weight from the front as well or just don't worry about it.

Yeah, I figured that, but I thought that it would easier said than done. Is losing all that weight in the rear realy not an issue?

Not when you put a cage in there :devillook

Hmmm good point. Looks like this will be on the list for next summer :)

Lose weight > 50:50 balance.
You can remove your A/C.

Ah ok, thank you for the replies. I just didn't want to do all the work to remove the weight, only to realize that I just created a bad handling car.

It might understeer a bit more and be slightly harder to rotate, but taking weight out *any*where will make it a tad quicker overall.

Actually it would tend to oversteer more since the rear of the car will be lighter than the front. After the cage is in and you've removed what you can from the front (sound deadening, AC) the weight distribution won't be that far off. With a coil-over suspension you can balance the car or you could add ballast over the rear wheels to achieve 50:50 weight distribution.
