My wife wants a SUV she is tired of the 325i and with kids on the way she wants something 4wheel and roomier. I found a 01 X5 with 70k on it it has the 3.0l engine and looks really clean. I am familier with the engine but not so much the tranny or body! What should I look for? The stealer is asking $16.5 is this a good deal?

transmission problems are a concern on some of the early early year modles........and from what i gather most of the tranmission problems started happening after 60K miles...

proceed carefully IMHO...

the cpo only last 6 years from in service date...on a 2001 that leaves very little time left....

CV boots are a common problem. Check the front set. Ours went out quickly.

3.0 engine is rock solid. try to get an '02 as there were less problems

better yet, model updates happened in '04 so those are definitely the ones to get.
