My parents just moved to Gainesville, and I was wondering if there were any BMW shops/junk yards/etc there or near there where I should go down and check out.

There are some good shops in Gainesville I've seen recommended before (I believe they are associated with Leistung motor works group (sorry if I spelled that wrong)) but I've never had a chance to meet. There is a decent sized BMW group in Gainesville that SUCK because they didn't get started until I had just graduated! Haha-kidding. Wish I could have met up with those guys when I was in school up there.

The only shop I've been to for BMWs was continental imports. They marketed themselves as a 'dealership alternative' where they were pricey, but they had supposedly really good techs and diagnostic equipment and did tires and alignment as well. The most beautiful thing about that shop was that they charged $65 for an alignment on my E34 beacause they recognized that the only adjustment was front toe and never tried to BS me.

As for junkyards, I never found any good ones. I've heard Damrons was pretty big, but I've never been there, and its not PnP.

Hey, welcome to Gainesville. I'm Ken, I run Leistung Motorwerke, the BMW club in town. Check out our site.

Continental is garbage, our group brings all our cars to Mickey over at Best Motor Works & Sports. He's the best BMW mechanic you'll find in north Florida. Shoot me a PM, or AIM at "Squash Potato". I'll be happy to help you out with anything you need.
