I believe BMW had three major recalls in total for this issue with one of them effecting all s54 powered cars before they even made it to our shores. The issue has been rectified and BMW NA will continue to warranty those vehicles with the 6 year / 100,000 mile engine warranty.

The rod bearing was the main one, but there was also a service on the DME software to fix a glitch that people were getting when smogging their cars.
