If/when I get FI, is it possible to get a blowoff valve/bypass valve that will be especially quiet? I like the idea of not having anyone have any idea what is under the hood. Any input appreciated greatly!

we run BPV's with centrifugal s/c's...
I cannot hear mine at all..nor will you...If you go Centri.

Was that a plug for the AA setup I just got? It came by and was so quiet and sneaky, I hardly even noticed it!;)

I am about 90% sure that if I go SC FI, it will be the AA kit through you Marco. I just worry about my altitude loss being so high above sea level, and how that will affect the tuning which is programed at sea level. But I need to call them tomorrow and talk about the altitude difference.

Still, nice plug!:)

But could someone on the street w/ you on full throttle, when you lift to shift?

it wasn't a plug for AA..at all..
I also sell RMS with Vortech blowers..

It was merely a fact about a BPV on a centrifugal suipercharger......

You've got to be kidding...:)
Between the whine of my V1 blower and the insane exhaust note of my race exhaust...I doubt anything could be heard from under my hood...

Bimmerbasher, the AA C38 stg2 kit's bov is definitely audible, especially since the c38 doesn't whine like the vortechs. When you let off at full throttle over 4k rpm you definitely hear it. It's not as loud as an srt-4, but someone next to you who know's the sound to look for will notice it. You don't really hear it when you rev at idle though, more just when you're driving. You can listen to the vids I posted in my install thread to see how the engine sounds when you rev it at idle. Regardless of the sound the kit's fantastic though and I'd highly recommend it; as you said you've already found the right guy to go through.

Thanks Austin..
Bimmerbasher has a E46 330..There is no Stg 2 kit available...yet..
The Stg 1 kit comes with a 'basic" BPV.. not the monster valve.. the TS and Stg 2 C38 comes with...

I hear by BPV, but only with my driver window open.. Then, whenver I shift, its audible as a low key 'whoosh'. Not loud and nonobtrusive... I like it. But I doubt anybody in another car or a bystander on the street would ever hear it.

Haha I never even bothered to see what car he had. I just assumed e36 since that's what practically all the FI cars are around here.

I vented my SC bypass and now my turbo bypass to atmosphere just upstream of the charge cooler to release the heated air and further try to keep a handle on heat soaking the intake.

If someone really wanted to mask the fact that they were operating FI, couldn't you simply plumb the bypass discharge back into the feed of the SC?

The main reason for my concern is the wife. Trying to do this without her being able to notice something is different:devillook

She is no car buff, but if suddenly my car was making audible "whoosh" noises, she might wonder...And I don't want to have to make up a BS story...:devillook

I know, silly me. I just thought if I could, it would be a nice confrontation to avoid.

Thats pretty funny... Listen.. If, after adding Forced Induction to your car, the only difference your wife notices is the sound it makes, Id venture to say it wasnt too successful! Thats assuming she drives it once in a while.. If youre only concerned that as a passenger she might notice it, then with you being the driver, you can drive it such that you dont expose the power difference. Then, if you can keep it quiet, you Might escape detection. But how are you going to explain away that silly grin you have stuck to your face? She Might think youve found another woman or something. After all, the silly look on your face wont be all that different between the two!! :D

lol:) Well, fortunately she never drives the car. I am too picky. I didn't even want her driving the old '92, and she is a good driver. That's why we got her her own 330. I am just sooo anal about how I want the car driven. And as for said silly grin... I will just tell her it is b/c I love her so, I can't stop smiling. Hopefully this turns into another silly grin later on at home!:alright:alright
