1977 Datsun 280Z
Up for sale is my beloved 77' Datsun. This car has been pampered since new with only 3 owners. Alittle about the owners. The first owner had the car for about a year. The second owner, a friend and a 30 year master mechanic, owned the car for over 20 years and never spared any expense on the car. About 3 years ago the car was totally disassembled and restored by him.
During this restoration everything was replaced on the car with OEM Nissan/Datsun parts from a local dealership. When I say everything, I mean almost EVERYTHING. (With the minor exception of some small things. Interior peices etc.)
The Restoration:
Body: Once the car was taken apart it was sent out to very reputable body shop it was stripped down to bare metal, prepped correctly, and painted. Once painted the exterior was completely reassembled and all badges, glass, weather stripping were replaced at this time. The body is in show condition. The only minor flaw is a small barely noticeable dent on the top of the fender. Other then that the paint is flawless. Never driven in rain, always garaged/covered and cleaned everytime it's driven.
Undercarriage:
The undercarriage is in great condition as well. The floors were replaced during the restoration professionally. After the floors were replace the undercarriage was completely undercoated, and painted black and looks great.
Wheels:
The wheels were bought as a used set of Z wheels from a later Z car. After they were bought they were sent out to a company called Sports Car Tire & Wheel and completely machined and refinished. They look like they are brand new. The tires were also replaced at this time.
Brakes:
The brakes were also replaced during this time. Everything was rebuilt or replaced and the calipers and drums were repainted to factory specs.
Suspension:
The suspension was also totally replaced. Every bushing is new and are OEM Datsun/Nissan with the exception of the thrust arm bushings as they are polyurethane. KYB Gas front and rear shocks and struts. The car rides and handles like new.
Engine and Transmission:
The engine and transmission are not orginal. However I do have the orginal engine block and transmission for the car. The story is that the engine that is in the car now was built while the orginal engine was still in the car. So the orginal engine and trans is included in the sale as well as some other parts.
The engine that is in the car now was installed during the restoration. It was sent out, machined to an 2.9L and rebuilt with all brand new parts. New cooling system was also added. It also has a MSA big bore throttle body, and a MSA cold air intake. Runs perfect.
Exhaust:
The car is equipped with a ANSA free flow exhaust which sounds incredible. Must see and hear.
Fuel System:
During the restoration the fuel tank, and fuel pump were replaced, and the fuel lines were also updated.
Interior:
The interior is in perfect condition. Seats were redone, new door panels and all carpet was replaced. The headliner is in perfect condition. Orginal dash board as well as some other plastic peices. MSA 280Z floor mats. New Datsun dash logo. Overall perfect condition.
Exterior Chrome:
The front bumper is orginal, and in great condition. The rear bumper is new OEM Datsun/Nissan.
Lighting:
The headlights were replaced with a Hella headlight conversion from MSA. Look great and have great lighting power.
Maintainace:
Car as been very well maintained. Oil changes every 2500 miles or twice a season. Always cleaned, and always waxed.
Rebuilt trans this past winter with new centerforce clutch.
It breaks my heart to have to sell my Z. But at this moment I have no time to enjoy the car. This car is truely one of a kind. Over $25k invested overall.
