In search for my future e39, i found this 97 540i with only 72k miles on it
but the thing is, the price is pretty low - less than 10k

my dad's saying it's probably a salvaged title and i don't really know how to find that out..

what would you guys say?

You could run a Carfax on it, though if the damage was never reported, it won't show up. Best way is to take it to a reputable shop that can do a pre-purchase inspection and check for damage (welds, missing parts, improper repairs, repainting, water damage, etc.). Pre-purchase inspection should be part of every used BMW purchase. :) The old adage of "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is" applies here.

yea that's the thing

one of my family friend's car's been in an accident but somehow it was never reported and after fixing it up, they could sell the car for the price of new, clean title...

again, the answer came out to "do a PPI"
