Hi,

We are looking at a 2005 X3 2.5i for my wife. It has ~32,000 kms. The dealer has Certified it, but I'm not sure if it is the right one...it pulls to the left and has a set of new tires. There is also a rattle coming from the back somewhere. I'm pretty sure that the tires should last longer than 32K, and shouldn't the dealer fix the alignment as part of the CPO inspection (ie BEFORE they put in on the lot)???

Thought and advice would be appreciated.

I have a CPO 2004 X5. I bought in in Feb of this year. Before I bought it anything that was wrong with it was fixed. A CPO car is supposed to be as if you were buying it new. If the dealer is not willing to fix alignment issues before sale I would be a little worried. It will have full warranty for a year or so yet though and alignment is covered under the full maintenance and warranty for 4 years.

I also insisted the put 4 new tires on the x5. Evidently for cpo inspection if there is less than so many mm of tread depth they are required to replace. Idea being they dont want you to need a new set of tires 2 months after you buy truck. Mine had 47,xxx so it may be that at 30,xxx it just needed new tires, but that is a low mileage for that.
summary- If dealer will not fix alignment before sale on CPO = sketchy
