So once again I feel like bsw hasn't lived up to what they say they are. I bought a door tweeter and midrange for my 1995 e36 bmw 318is and first of all the instructions were pretty poor and hard to understand that they came with, but we got the door panel off and started to work on getting the speakers out of their housing (which we did) but they didn't really have good instructions on what tabs to remove and how to best do it.

Also the tweeter I got from BSW has connections on it for a connector that doesnt fuc**** exist. The midrange has the right connector but the tweeter only has the positive and negative wires running from hte door and doesn't need a special adapter but BSW put one on hte tweeter. So now what do i do?

Here are some pictures to show u what i mean... :mad:mad:mad:mad:mad:mad:mad:help:help

see the mid connects fine but the tweeter has a female or male adapter like that for the mid and there are only these positive and negative wires no adapter fori t to fit in. So do i just cut the adapter off and then connect positve and neg wires

yeah I think Id cut the wires and connect them myself, I think someone sent you the wrong speaker, probably a shipping mis-hap as I have only had good luck with BSW, Im sure if you called them up they could tell you better, and they are more than happy to help with install over the phone as well.

good point about sat, I would say pos is one color and neg has the line, you should be able to test them though before you install, turn you car on and connect by hand and listen for sound.

I'm not BSW fanboy but, if this is the first time you've had any problems with them, it does seem like you should give them a chance to fix any problems you may have before trashing them online. If it's not the first time you've had issues with BSW, maybe you ought to learn from those instances.

Just sayin'

Easy way to test positive from negative. Take a 9 volt battery connect a wire to negative terminal then the other to positive momentarily. If the speaker moves outward you have the wires in correct polarity. If not they are reversed. Either way voila you know which is which.

PS only touch the wires momentarily and watch the speakers movement.

Out = positive

In = negative

DO NOT LEAVE CONNECTED FOR MORE THAN SECONDS!

Yeah we figured it out, sorry for trashing them a little bit but i mean come on they should at least know what the connectors look like on the car when they advertise as BMW specialist and all that junk

if the wires you pictured were the tweeter leads from the car (not the new speakers) it looks like someone had cut off the factory connector and added male and female bullet connectors in their place. thats not BSWs fault if its the case. as for which wire is which, bentley manual specs that out and you should be able to find from BSW which is which on the speaker they sent you.
